Offrageo is a small, tribe-published travel desk covering resort stays between the Choctaw hills, the Delta and the Gulf shore. Below: the owner, the funding and the house rules.

The publisher

Offrageo belongs to the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians, a federally recognised tribe headquartered in Choctaw, Mississippi. Editorial mail goes to contact@offrageo.com.

The tribe also owns and runs Pearl River Resort, entry number one. We want that to be impossible to miss: first place reflects ownership, not a contest the resort entered and came out ahead in. Every booking made at Pearl River Resort brings revenue straight to the tribe that publishes these pages.

Where the funding comes from

Certain hotel buttons carry referral tracking. When a reader clicks one and later books, a partner network can send offrageo a commission; the room costs the reader nothing more than a direct booking would. That referral income, plus the tribe's own interest in Pearl River Resort, is how the desk is paid for. No hotel can buy its way into the ledger.

Methodology and selection criteria

To be considered, a property needs guest rooms of its own, must be open and accepting stays, should lie within a drive of the Mississippi River corridor or the Gulf shore, and must publish an official website we can point to. Our editors then weigh four things: the spread and comfort of rooms; leisure that has nothing to do with the casino, such as pools, spas, dining and family outings; how easily a visitor arrives; and how openly fees and age limits are spelled out.

Facilities are cross-checked against each property's own website and recent public reporting. Any detail we cannot pin down — a room total, a year, a rate — is dropped, or replaced with a nudge to ask the front desk.

Experience behind the entries

The desk writes from long familiarity with these roads: US 61 through the cotton flats, Interstate 20 over the Vicksburg bridge, US 90 along the sand. Entries stay focused on what a guest will actually live with — the room, the pool hours, the drive from the airport — and each closes with the questions worth asking on the phone.

Fixing mistakes

Properties rebrand and rewrite their rules more often than guidebooks would like. Spot something stale? Send a note to contact@offrageo.com quoting the hotel and the sentence that seems off. We verify the report, correct whatever turns out to be wrong without delay, and refresh the revision date shown under each page heading.
